Chapter Two: Tristan and Isabella

Tristan and Isabella always wanted to know if Jonathan had any new answers in his Answer Collection.

“Do you have any new answers today, Jonathan?” asked Isabella inquisitively.

“Yes, I do Isabella,” replied Jonathan politely, “I asked Miss Teacher: ‘Why do people need to go to school?’ and she answered: ‘People need to go to school, because they need to better understand the world in which they live.’”

Isabella and Tristan both looked very surprised.

“That is the wrong answer, Jonathan!” exclaimed Tristan rather excitably.

“I am afraid that is the completely wrong answer, Jonathan,” explained Isabella very kindly, “Miss Teacher told you the wrong answer.”

“Oh dear,” mumbled Jonathan, notably discombobulated.

“You will have to correct the answer in your Answer Collection, Jonathan,” cautioned Tristan.

“Yes, I think you had better change the answer, Jonathan,” agreed Isabella, “Perhaps you can ask the question once more?”

“Yes, good idea, Isabella,” agreed Tristan, “Ask us the question once more, Jonathan.”

“Well,” began Jonathan, “The question is: ‘Why do people need to go to school?’”

“The answer is,” began Tristan, “People need to go to school, because they need to learn how to be the most popular people in the world.”

“Is that your answer too?” asked Jonathan to Isabella.

“Yes,” confirmed Isabella, “Tristan has given you the correct answer. The correct answer is: ‘People need to go to school, because they need to learn how to be the most popular people in the world’.”

Jonathan wrote down this new answer from Tristan, that Isabella also agreed with. However, he did not remove Miss Teacher’s answer from his Answer Collection. Instead, he wrote down two answers now, to one question. He wrote down Tristan’s answer and he wrote down Miss Teacher’s answer.

Never in the history of Country Village had Jonathan been known to write down two completely different answers to the same question for this Answer Collection.

This was the very first time that such an historic event had occurred in all of Country Village.
